Little nagging things

I haven’t done anything exciting recently, hence not blogging anything.  My Garmin Edge 705 developed a little, occasional, fault about once I’d had it for about 13 months.  I was about to go on holiday so I waited until i got back to do anything about it.  It got gradually worse and completely unreliable (it would [...]

Still here

I just haven’t done anything particularly interesting over the winter.  I’m soft and cold, dar, wet rides don’t seem fun.  I’m still commuting so I know what it’s like out there.  Hopefully I’ll get a few weekend rides in again.  I admit I could have been out in the last few weeks but, holiday aside, [...]

There goes another month

I’m blogging less again, but it’s winter and I’m riding less.  I still haven’t fixed the puncture in the back of the Tricross, but I do intend to tonight as it’s getting a little lighter in the evening and I’d like to swap back to the Tricross from the Bolinas Ridge.  The Ridge has punctured [...]

Has puncture season started?

Posted on 2010/11/03. Filed under: Bike changes, Cycling | Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

At the weekend the other half got a puncture in the back tyre of her Fat Boy.  Yesterday I got a puncture in the front of the Tricross.  Leaves have started falling, as have small branches.  Is this the start of the puncture season?  I expect later tonight when I (hope to) get around to [...]

Boycotts and temptations

Grr.  I’m at the point where I’m thinking about getting a new bike, probably at the start of next spring.  I currently have a Mountain Bike that I’ve grown to like less because I have a cyclo-cross bike that I really like (even though I never take either off road).  So I think the next [...]

Untimely rim death

So tomorrow I’m intending to cycle to Foxearth and Ballingdon to watch a couple of King of the Mountains points on stage 7 of the Tour or Britain 2010.  This will be about a 140km round trip, and the most I’ve done in a single day.  Last week, actually for a few weeks before that [...]

Halo expiry

I’ll start with an odometer check.  Tricross: 4414.6 miles, Bolinas Ridge: 4612.9 miles.  A weekend or two back I was in Decathlon, this weekend I was in a LBS.  Both times I looked at but didn’t buy new tyres for the Tricross.  The Halo Twin rails I have on have had the rails completly worn [...]

Halo tyres?

Went to the second nearest LBS to buy new tyres.  I was expecting to end up with something like the Schwalbe Lugano that I currently have, except with less glass in them.  Ended up buying Halo twin rails.  The other half had the MTB version of these on her Cinder Cone, before it got nicked, [...]

Good deed, bad timing

Puncture this morning.  Proper one.  Pffft then I’m riding on the rim.  2/3rds of the way to work.  I decided to walk the rest of the way as it would be just as quick as fixin g and riding (if not quicker).  Taking a look at the back tyre at lunchtime it was absolutely loaded with [...]

Cocked-up cockpit

…or, my lights are lop-sided and nothing fits on the Tricross without an effort.  I’ve fitted my new Garmin edge to the stem of the Tricross, and it was a tight fit.  I have a small frame, which I think has given it a short steep stem, and the Garmin only fits on with the [...]
